Dr. Abdullah Saad Al-Khanbashi is a recognized UAE administrator and academic. Dr. Al-Khanbashi holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tennessee (1997); M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Louisville (1991); and a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Louisville (1990).
In the past 25 years, he has held various positions and served on many Boards. From 2008-2012 he served as the Vice Chancellor of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), the main federal University in the United Arab Emirates, with over 14,000 students and 3,000 faculty and staff. As Vice Chancellor, Dr. Al-Khanbashi lead the pursuit of the university’s vision and mission as well as the implementation of university policies and procedures, including all academic, financial and administrative operations of the University ensuring the education outcomes meet the national needs.
He also served as UAEU Provost (Chief Operating Officer) from 2005-2008. Dr. Al-Khanbashi made a significant contribution to the development of tertiary education in the UAE. He is a distinguished scholar and senior administrator who has helped establish sound and innovative organizational and management systems in University education, promoting effective teaching philosophies and approaches that meet international benchmarks and standards.
