Strata and Pilatus Planning Extension of their Successful Cooperation Project with PC-12 Aircraft

Strata Manufacturing PJSC (Strata), a leading provider of advanced composite manufacturing in the United Arab Emirates and Pilatus Aircraft Ltd (Pilatus) the Swiss Aircraft OEM based in Stans, have announce that they are in advanced discussions to extend their existing successful cooperation on PC-24 to include the renowned Pilatus’ PC-12 turboprop.

Since 2018 Strata and Pilatus cooperated in the production of the composite parts for the PC-24, the world first ‘Super Versatile Jet’, manufacturing in the UAE more than 10,000 parts that are now flying all over the World.

The success of this project – a fulfilment of commitment under the Tawazun Economic Program that aims to generate high economic value and strategic benefits to the UAE – demonstrates the potential of industrial cooperation between UAE industries and global players of Pilatus’ calibre.

“The ever-expanding partnership between ‘Strata’ and ‘Pilatus’ reflects the immense potential for industrial collaboration between the UAE and leading global companies in the defense, aerospace, and aviation sectors,” said Shareef Hashim Al Hashmi, CEO of Operations at Tawazun Council.

“Tawazun Council is resolute in its commitment to promoting innovation and collaboration and to enabling local suppliers to seamlessly integrate their products into global supply chains, enhance competitiveness and strengthen UAE’s position in global industrial and economic rankings,” he added.

Following Tawazun Council’s provisional approval for their proposed expansion of collaboration to cover the World’s Greatest Single, the PC-12, Strata and Pilatus are now working to confirm the details with the relevant UAE authorities.

Strata’s manufacturing process incorporates cutting-edge technologies, including hot press and autoclave curing techniques, ensuring that the final products meet the highest quality standards and adhere to stringent safety regulations. This process involves the use of advanced materials like carbon fibre, distinguished for its lightweight and high-strength properties, which play an integral role in enhancing the performance and efficiency of the Pilatus aircrafts.

Ismail Ali Abdulla, Managing Director of Strata, said; “We are thrilled to embark on the production operations for PC-12 components, showcasing Strata’s unwavering dedication to delivering high-quality, cutting-edge aerostructures. Our partnership with Pilatus has been founded on mutual trust and a shared commitment to excellence. Contributing to the success of these iconic aircraft models fills us with pride.”

Roman Emmenegger, Vice President of Manufacturing of Pilatus, expressed: “Partnering with Strata has been a strategic decision for Pilatus. We have witnessed their unparalleled capabilities and commitment to innovation in the aerospace industry.

With the planned extension of our cooperation with Strata to the PC-12, Pilatus reconfirms its commitment to further strengthen our relationship with the UAE, which dates back over thirty years, supporting the UAE Air Force with our PC-21 and PC-7 training aircraft and the creation of aerospace centres of excellence with major players such as Strata”.

Strata continues its unwavering commitment to developing local talent and strengthening the Emirati workforce, with this project employing 70% accomplished Emirati experts. This focus and resilience on localization demonstrates Strata’s significant investment in strengthening the Nation’s aerospace industry, as well as its steadfast commitment to the development of National talent.
